Who We Are
Northwest RiverPartners (NWRP) is a member-driven organization that serves not-for-profit, community-owned electric utilities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada, California, and Wyoming. We also proudly represent partners that support clean energy, low-carbon transportation, and agricultural jobs.

Conduct
In order to fulfill our mission and strive towards our goals as an organization, we believe it is necessary and appropriate to follow a strict code of conduct in all aspects of our work. Doing so ensures that we can be champions of our hydropower system, our membership, and all those who rely on the dams to power their lives.
NorthwestRiverpartners Commits To R.I.S.E. Principles:
Represent our members with integrity and respect
Include the perspectives of the diverse communities of the Pacific Northwest
Seek holistic solutions that consider both people and the environment
Explore collaborative and actionable answers to challenging issues

Our History
Northwest RiverPartners was founded in 2005 as The Coalition for Smart Salmon Recovery in response to the court challenge of the 2004 National Marine Fisheries Service Biological Opinion. The goal of the organization was to provide the public and policymakers with information that they weren’t hearing from the litigants.
More than anything, NWRP recognized that the only way for the region to come together in agreement while debating over the emotional issue of salmon recovery was by focusing on sound science.
As time went on, NWRP would grow to include over 100 members, representing their voices and the voices of the communities they serve. While we have continued to evolve, we still believe in informing the public and policymakers with the best available science.
We also hope to work towards collaborative solutions with our members and to reach those with differing views. The journey of our organization is a challenging one, but we strongly believe it is worth the effort.
